The 1981 Château Robin is a red wine originating from the Côtes de Castillon area in France. Produced by Mmes Duchamp & Gastinet, this wine holds the classification of Appellation Bordeaux Supérieur Côtes de Castillon Contrôlée and is recognized as a Grand Vin de Bordeaux. The 1981 vintage in this region is characterized as delicate and mature.
Côtes de Castillon, officially known as Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux since 2009, is an AOC located in the eastern part of Bordeaux on the right bank of the Dordogne river, just east of Saint-Émilion. The area is historically significant as the site of the 1453 battle that ended the Hundred Years' War. The climate here is influenced by the Atlantic Ocean, though its distance from the sea makes it slightly warmer and drier than neighboring Saint-Émilion. The terroir consists primarily of limestone and clay on the higher, well-drained slopes, complemented by gravel and sand on the terraces and alluvial deposits near the river.
Situated by the Atlantic Ocean, Bordeaux is the world's most famous wine region, with an export history dating back to the Middle Ages. While the left bank of the Gironde is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon grown on gravel soils, the right bank is the traditional domain of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. In Côtes de Castillon, red wines make up the entirety of the production, typically relying on a dominant portion of Merlot, supported by Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Malbec. This creates the foundation for the elegant blended wines of great finesse that the region is renowned for.

Store the bottle horizontally at 12–14°C and avoid direct sunlight, vibrations, and temperature fluctuations.
Opening
Allow the bottle to stand upright for 24–48 hours before opening to allow sediment to settle. Use a professional corkscrew and open carefully.
Enjoyment
Serve at 17–18°C and be patient – there is a great difference in how and how quickly wines open up when they are aerated.
