Bourgogne La Chablisienne 1990
The 1990 Bourgogne Blanc is a classic white wine crafted by La Chablisienne. Founded in 1923, this estate stands as one of Burgundy's largest and most central cooperatives, uniting around 300 winegrowers from the Chablis area. Producing approximately 25% of the appellation's total wine, it is a highly influential producer. This specific release comes from a magnificent vintage, recognized as rich and complex, which achieved a score of 96 points.
A notable asset of the cooperative is its monopoly on Château Grenouilles, a 7.2-hectare Grand Cru vineyard situated in the heart of the seven Grand Cru hills of Chablis. La Chablisienne is the sole producer making wine from this specific parcel, a rarity among Chablis Grand Crus, which are typically divided among multiple owners. The cooperative's production spans the entire spectrum of the area, gathering the contributions of many growers under one roof. As noted on the label, this wine was bottled directly at the estate under the designation "Mis en bouteille à la propriété."
The wine originates from Burgundy in eastern France, a region historically shaped by medieval monks who meticulously mapped its countless terroirs and climats. The Bourgogne AOC, officially established in 1937, serves as the foundational regional appellation, covering a vast geographical area from the Yonne department in the north to the Rhône department in the south. The area features a continental climate with cold winters, cool springs, and warm summers, alongside a classic soil composition dominated by clay and limestone. This wine is made entirely from Chardonnay, one of the world's most renowned green grapes, which finds its premier growing conditions in Burgundy, as well as in other prominent regions like Champagne, California, and Oregon.
The history of the wine

Burgundy
Burgundy in eastern France was shaped by medieval monks who mapped the area's countless terroirs. The region grows almost exclusively Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and has turned terroir into an art form with its finely meshed system of climats. From Chablis in the north to the Côte d'Or and Mâconnais in the south, the limestone soil yields some of the world's most sought-after and elegant wines.
