Fleurie Maison Louis Latour 1981
Maison Louis Latour, founded in 1797 in Aloxe-Corton, is one of the few major Burgundy houses to maintain continuous family ownership for two and a half centuries, currently guided by the 11th generation. While renowned as the largest private landowner on the Corton hill in the Côte de Beaune, the house also operates an extensive négociant business. Through this activity, they distribute wines from across the broader Burgundy area, maintaining a classic and traditional style. It is worth noting that the estate is entirely distinct from Château Latour in Pauillac.
This 1981 red wine comes from Fleurie, an Appellation Contrôlée and one of the ten designated cru villages in the Beaujolais region, located just south of Burgundy. Situated on granite slopes north of Morgon, the Fleurie area is known for a style that emphasizes finesse rather than power.
The wine is crafted from Gamay, a classic French grape variety whose primary homeland is the granite subsoils of Beaujolais, though it is also cultivated in the Loire Valley. Bottled by Louis Latour in a 750ml format, this edition reflects the house's broad coverage of the region's diverse appellations.

Beaujolais south of Burgundy is the homeland of the Gamay grape. The area became world-famous for the young, fruity Beaujolais Nouveau, but the real quality lies in the ten cru villages such as Morgon and Fleurie. The granite subsoil yields juicy, light red wines with fresh acidity and aromas of red berries, flowers and spice. A classic and incredibly food-friendly French red wine region.

Storage
Store the bottle horizontally at 12–14°C and avoid direct sunlight, vibrations, and temperature fluctuations.
Opening
Allow the bottle to stand upright for 24–48 hours before opening to allow sediment to settle. Use a professional corkscrew and open carefully.
Enjoyment
Serve at 17–18°C and be patient – there is a great difference in how and how quickly wines open up when they are aerated.
