Lalande-de-Pomerol Château Lamothe de Bertineau 1986
Château Lamothe de Bertineau is a French red wine produced by M. Vedelago. It holds the Appellation Lalande-de-Pomerol Contrôlée and is bottled directly at the estate. This specific release is from the 1986 vintage, a year described as tight and classic, earning a score of 89 points.
The wine originates from Lalande-de-Pomerol, located on the right bank of Bordeaux. Situated just north of Pomerol and separated by the small Barbanne river, the area shares much of its terroir character with its famous neighbor. The soils here vary between gravel and clay around Néac, which closely resembles Pomerol, and more sandy alluvial soils around Lalande. Bordeaux itself is situated by the Atlantic Ocean and has been exporting wine since the Middle Ages, with the right bank being the traditional domain of Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
Lalande-de-Pomerol exclusively produces red wines. These are primarily based on Merlot, which is often supplemented by Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and a small amount of Malbec. The wine is presented in a standard 75-centiliter bottle with an alcohol content of 12 percent.
