Casa La Joya Gran Reserve Viña Bisquertt 2004
The Casa La Joya Gran Reserve is a 2004 vintage red wine produced by Viña Bisquertt. This estate-bottled wine is crafted by the Bisquertt family vineyards, bearing the signature of Osvaldo Bisquertt. It is made entirely from Merlot, a classic blue grape variety that is widely cultivated in prominent wine-producing areas such as Bordeaux, California, Washington, and Northern Italy.
The wine originates from the Colchagua Valley in Chile, located approximately 130 kilometers south of Santiago. As part of the larger Rapel Valley within the Central Valley region, this area holds official DO status and stretches from the Andes Mountains in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west. The valley benefits from a Mediterranean climate with warm days and cool nights, moderated by the Humboldt Current, which creates significant diurnal temperature shifts. The terroir features a variety of soils, ranging from alluvial gravel and sand on the valley floor to limestone and clay in the higher elevation zones.
During its production, this Gran Reserve was aged for eight months in French oak barrels before being bottled at the estate. The Colchagua Valley is widely recognized as the home to some of South America's most structured red wines, providing a distinct geographical foundation for this 2004 vintage.
