Pauillac Les Forts de Latour 1995
Les Forts de Latour is a red wine produced by Société Civile du Vignoble de Château Latour in the prestigious Bordeaux region of France. Château Latour stands as one of the five original Premiers Crus in the historic 1855 classification, representing the highest tier of classified Bordeaux estates alongside Lafite-Rothschild, Mouton-Rothschild, Margaux, and Haut-Brion.
Since 1993, the estate has been owned by François Pinault and his company, Groupe Artémis, marking a return to French ownership after decades of British control under Pearson and Allied Lyons. The estate spans 78 to 80 hectares, which includes L'Enclos, a 47-hectare core parcel surrounding the château where the main wine originates. In 2012, Château Latour made the notable decision to leave the en primeur system, a traditional model where Bordeaux estates sell wine several years before it is bottled. Furthermore, the estate has converted to organic and biodynamic farming and holds an Ecocert certification. The wine is estate-bottled directly at the château.
The wine holds the Appellation Pauillac Contrôlée status, originating from the Haut-Médoc on the Left Bank of the Gironde estuary. Pauillac is recognized as a benchmark for Left Bank Bordeaux and is home to three of the five First Growth estates from the 1855 classification. The vineyards in this area are characterized by gravelly soils, which are highly suited for the Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated blends typical of the region. The 1995 vintage from this area is described as mature and balanced, earning a score of 91 points. Bordeaux itself has been exporting wine since the Middle Ages, with the Left Bank traditionally focusing on Cabernet Sauvignon, while the Right Bank is the domain of Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

Storage
Store the bottle horizontally at 12–14°C and avoid direct sunlight, vibrations, and temperature fluctuations.
Opening
Allow the bottle to stand upright for 24–48 hours before opening to allow sediment to settle. Use a professional corkscrew and open carefully.
Enjoyment
Serve at 17–18°C and be patient – there is a great difference in how and how quickly wines open up when they are aerated.
