Premières Côtes de Blaye Château Seguin 1996
The 1996 Château Seguin is a red wine from the historic Premières Côtes de Blaye appellation in the renowned Bordeaux region of southwestern France. Situated along the Atlantic coast, Bordeaux has been exporting wine since the Middle Ages and remains globally recognized for its historic winemaking culture. The 1996 vintage is noted for being classic and structured, achieving a score of 94 points. This specific wine originates from the right bank of the Gironde estuary, directly opposite the famous Médoc peninsula, an area known for producing classic Bordeaux blends.
The maritime climate of the area is heavily influenced by the nearby Gironde estuary, which acts as a temperature regulator and creates a stable environment for viticulture. The local landscape features rolling hills and valleys, with vineyards planted in a varied soil composition of clay and limestone, complemented by sand and gravel deposits that ensure excellent drainage. In 2009, the Bordeaux appellation system underwent a restructuring that officially changed the area's name to Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux, though older vintages like this one continue to bear the original Premières Côtes de Blaye designation on their labels.
Classified as an Appellation Premières Côtes de Blaye Contrôlée, this Grand Vin de Bordeaux was bottled directly at the estate. During its production, the wine was aged in oak barrels, following traditional regional practices. The quality of this vintage was formally recognized when it was awarded a gold medal at the Concours Régional des Vins d'Aquitaine in 1997. The wine has an alcohol content of 12% and is presented in a standard 75 cl bottle.

Store the bottle horizontally at 12–14°C and avoid direct sunlight, vibrations, and temperature fluctuations.
Opening
Allow the bottle to stand upright for 24–48 hours before opening to allow sediment to settle. Use a professional corkscrew and open carefully.

Serve at 17–18°C and be patient – there is a great difference in how and how quickly wines open up when they are aerated.
