The 1992 Oak Knoll Winery Pinot Noir is a red wine originating from the Willamette Valley in Oregon, USA. The winery's history with this grape dates back to 1970, when Ron Vuylsteke and his family first began producing Pinot Noir in the state. For this specific vintage, the grapes were sourced from five distinct vineyards located southwest of Portland. Following the harvest, the wine was aged in French oak barrels for a period of one year and bottled at 13.5 percent alcohol.
Willamette Valley has been Oregon's most prominent wine region since its establishment as an AVA in 1983. The area stretches approximately 240 kilometers from the Columbia River in the north to Eugene in the south, nestled between the Coast Range and the Cascade Mountains. The region experiences a distinctly cool continental climate with mild, rainy winters and dry summers, where the Pacific Ocean moderates temperatures through the Van Duzer Corridor. The local terroir is defined by three main soil types: volcanic Jory soils, sedimentary Willakenzie soils, and marine sedimentary deposits. The valley is widely recognized for its strong commitment to biodynamic and organic viticulture.
Pinot Noir is an elegant blue grape variety that thrives in this environment, dominating the Willamette Valley with over 70 percent of the total plantings. While it is the signature grape of this Oregon region, it is also classically cultivated in other prominent wine areas around the world, including Burgundy, Champagne, Germany, and California.

Willamette-vallei
Willamette Valley lies in the north-western state of Oregon in the United States and has been the state's most important wine region since the AVA was established in 1983. The area stretches about 240 kilometres from the Columbia river in the north to Eugene in the south, between the Coast Range in the west and the Cascade Mountains in the east.
The climate is distinctly cool continental with an Atlantic character, mild rainy winters and dry summers, where the Pacific moderates the temperature via the Van Duzer Corridor. The area contains 11 sub-AVAs, including Dundee Hills (characteristic red volcanic Jory soil), Eola-Amity Hills, Yamhill-Carlton, Ribbon Ridge, Chehalem Mountains and McMinnville. The soils fall into three main types: volcanic Jory soils, sedimentary Willakenzie soils and marine sedimentary deposits. Pinot Noir dominates with over 70 percent of the plantings, complemented by Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Riesling and Gamay Noir. The style often resembles Burgundy with elegant, acid-driven wines; Pinot Noir shows cherry, raspberry, strawberry, earthiness, spices, smoky character and fine tannins, while Chardonnay has stone fruit, citrus, apple and minerality. The area is known for its strong commitment to biodynamic and organic viticulture and its status as one of the United States' most classic Pinot Noir regions.

Storage
Store the bottle horizontally at 12–14°C and avoid direct sunlight, vibrations, and temperature fluctuations.
Opening
Allow the bottle to stand upright for 24–48 hours before opening to allow sediment to settle. Use a professional corkscrew and open carefully.
Enjoyment
Serve at 17–18°C and be patient – there is a great difference in how and how quickly wines open up when they are aerated.
